Overview
Nuclei provides WhatsApp customers with the ability to automatically export and archive all communications occurring within WhatsApp, including:
- Messages
- Message Attachments
As a first step, the Nuclei Capture for WhatsApp service must be authorized to access your WhatsApp account. Once complete, Nuclei will automatically import WhatsApp content and related activity. Content can be retained with Nuclei, or exported for review and retention in your existing compliance archive.

Scope
Messages
Chat messages sent between WhatsApp users are supported for archiving. The following types of metadata are supported for each message:
- Message Type
- Content
- Datetime
- Thread ID
- Attachments
The following additional types of metadata are also supported for each message participant:
- Phone Number
- User ID
Getting Setup
Nuclei
To enable WhatsApp capture and archiving
- Login to https://app.nuclei.ai
- Select "Configuration" > "Sources"
- Select "New"
- Select "Source Type", then select "WhatsApp"
- Add a "Description" to the feed
- Select "Create Source"
Next, you will need to authorize the Nuclei connection to WhatsApp:
- Select "Create Authorization"
- Make note of the "Pairing Code" provided by Nuclei
Please note that the pairing code is displayed by Nuclei once. Pairing codes should be used immediately, and will expire if not used to complete the authorization process.
- Open your WhatsApp client
- Select "Settings", then select "Linked Devices"
- If you do not automatically see a new request, select "Link Device"
- Select "Link with phone number"
- Enter the "Pairing Code" provide by Nuclei
Uninstallation

To pause or disable capture:
- Login to https://app.nuclei.ai
- Select "Configuration" > "Sources"
- Select the desired "WhatsApp" feed
- De-select "Capture Enabled"
