Compliance Archiving for Microsoft Viva Engage

Overview

Nuclei provides Microsoft customers with the ability to automatically export and archive all content within Microsoft Viva Engage, including:  

• Messages
• Message Reactions
• Message Attachments
• All other resources supported by the Data Export and Files Export APIs.

As a first step, the "Nuclei Capture" archiving app must be authorized by a Verified Administrator. Once complete, Nuclei will automatically import Microsoft Viva Engage content and related activity. Content can be retained with Nuclei, or exported for review and retention in your existing compliance archive. 

Prerequisites

• Microsoft Engage Verified Administrator
• Network Data Export API
• Files Export API

Scope

Message

The following types of metadata are supported for each message:

• Message ID
• Replied to ID
• Parent ID
• Thread ID
• Conversation ID
• Group ID
• Group Name
• Participants
• Body
• Attachments
• Created At
• Title
• Message Type

The following additional types of metadata are also supported for message participants:

• Sender ID
• Sender Type
• Sender Name
• Sender Email

Getting Setup

Nuclei

To enable archiving of Microsoft Yammer Engage content:

1. Login to https://app.nuclei.ai 
2. Select "Configuration" > "Sources"
3. Select "New"
4. Select "Source Type", then select "Microsoft Yammer Engage"
5. Add a "Description" to the feed
6. Enter your "Microsoft Tenant ID"
7. Select "Save"
8. Select "Create Authorization", and complete the OAuth approval workflow.

Uninstallation 

To disable archiving:

1. Disable "Capture Enabled" in the Nuclei source configuration. 

Permissions Required

Data export takes place via the Data Export API, which can only be used by Verified Administrators. Verified Administrators required the following permissions:

• Export data and perform integrations with other tools. 

The following application permissions are required during app authorization:

• User.Read (Microsoft Graph)
• user_impersonation (Yammer / Microsoft Engage)
