Compliance Archiving for Google Workspace

Overview

Nuclei provides Google Workspace customers with the ability to automatically export, enrich, and archive all communications taking place within Google Workspace, including:  

• Google Mail Messages
• Google Voice Call Recordings
• Google Voice Text Messages
• Google Voice Voice Messages
• All other communication types supported by the Google Vault API

As a first step, the "Nuclei for Google Workspace" archiving app must be authorized for by your Google Workspace administrator. Once complete, Nuclei will automatically import Google Workspace content and related activity. Content can be retained with Nuclei, or exported for review and retention in your existing compliance archive. 

Prerequisites

• Google Vault API
• Google Voice Standard (optional, required for Google Voice capture)
• Google Voice Premier (optional, required for automatic call recording)

Scope

Google Mail

The following types of metadata are supported for each mail message:

• Sender
• Recipients 
• Date
• Subject
• Content
• Attachments

Google Voice Call Recordings

The following types of metadata are supported for each call recording:  

• From (Caller)
• To (Callee)
• Date
• Message ID

Google Voice Text Messages

The following types of metadata are supported for each text message:

• From (Sender)
• To (Recipients)
• Date
• Message ID
• Message Text

Google Voice Voice Messages

The following types of metadata are supported for each text message:

• From (Caller)
• To (Callee)
• Date
• Message ID
• Voicemail Transcript

Getting Setup

Nuclei

To enable archiving of Google Workspace content:

1. Login to https://app.nuclei.ai 
2. Select "Configuration" > "Sources"
3. Select "New"
4. Select "Source Type", then select "Google Workspace"
5. Add a "Description" to the feed
6. Configure the desired content types that should be captured
7. Select "Save"

Next, you will need to authorize the new feed:

1. Select "Create Authorization"
2. Complete the OAuth 2.0 authorization process

Once the app is authorized, you will need to follow the instructions from Google to make the app trusted. Otherwise, the app will need to be reauthorized on a regular basis.

Google Voice

To enable optional capture of Google Voice activity from Google Workspace you must first activate automatic call recording:

1. Login to https://admin.google.com 
2. From the Menu select "Apps", "Google Workspace", "Google Voice"
3. Select "Settings"
4. Select "Policies", then select "Automatic Call Recording"
5. Select "Edit", and then configure the options for automatic call recording:
   1. Off
   2. Only inbound calls
   3. Only outbound calls
   4. All calls
6. Select "Save"

Uninstallation 

Nuclei

To pause or disable capture:

1. Login to https://app.nuclei.ai 
2. Select "Configuration" > "Sources"
3. Select the desired "Google Workspace" feed
4. De-select "Capture Enabled"
